Answers to common questions about using Novellion. Still stuck? See the contact note at the bottom of this page.
Account & Registration
How do I create an account? Click Join in the top menu, fill in your email and password, and confirm. You can start reading right away.
How do I change my interface language? Open the language switcher in the header (or your profile) and pick English, Русский, or Українська. This only changes menus and buttons — it doesn’t translate the books themselves.
How do I choose which languages I read in? On first visit you’re asked which languages you prefer to read in — you can change this anytime from your profile (Reading Languages) or the globe icon in the header. This affects which books are shown to you first; it doesn’t hide anything permanently.
How do I edit my profile? Go to Edit Profile from your account menu — you can update your bio, country, avatar, and email there.
Can I delete my account? Contact us using the details at the bottom of this page and we’ll take care of it.
Books & Library
What’s the difference between a book and a chapter? A book is the overall title with its cover, description, and author. Chapters are the individual parts you read, published one at a time or all together.
How do I save a book to read later? Use Follow on a book or author page — followed books and authors appear in My Library.
What does “Recently Viewed” show? Books you’ve opened recently (not counting your own, if you’re an author) — it’s just a shortcut back to them.
Can I comment on a book? Yes — open any chapter and scroll to the comments section at the bottom.
Reading & Access Codes
Why can’t I read past the first chapter of some books? Some authors restrict their later chapters. The first chapter is always free to read. To unlock the rest, you’ll need an access code from that author.
Where do I get an access code? Access codes are distributed by the author themselves — check their author page, their own social channels, or any external platform they publish on (see the For Authors section below for how they set this up).
How do I redeem a code? On the restricted chapter, you’ll see a field to enter your code. Enter it once — it unlocks every book by that author for your account.
Does Novellion charge for books directly? No — Novellion itself doesn’t process payments. Some authors choose to sell early or exclusive access through outside platforms (like Patreon or Gumroad) and then share an access code with their supporters.
For Authors
How do I publish a book? From your Author Dashboard, create a new book, then add chapters — either written directly on the site or imported from a manuscript file.
Can I upload a manuscript instead of typing each chapter? Yes — on the Manage Chapters page for your book, use Import / Update from a file. It accepts common file formats and fills in your chapters automatically; uploading again fully replaces the book’s chapters with the new file, matched by position (so existing comments are kept where possible). You can then fine-tune anything by hand on the site.
How do I restrict later chapters and use access codes? Turn on chapter restriction for your book in its settings, then generate access codes from your Author Dashboard. Each code is one-time-use and unlocks all of your restricted books for whoever redeems it.
Can I sell my books or offer paid early access? Novellion doesn’t process payments directly, but you’re free to sell or crowdfund on outside platforms and use Novellion’s access codes to reward your supporters. See our separate guide on selling your books externally for the full walkthrough.
How do followers and messages work? Readers can follow you from your author page; you can message anyone through Messages, and block or report anyone who’s abusive.
